Today, the Rural Friends of Electric Cooperatives Political Action Committee endorsed Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock for Texas Comptroller.

“Electric cooperative leaders deeply appreciate Kelly Hancock’s thoughtful approach to policymaking that always considers the impact to rural communities,” said Rural Friends Trustee Julia Harvey. “Kelly understands our efforts to provide affordable and reliable energy services to the people we serve, and he knows that smart fiscal leadership is critical to what we do. Texans will benefit from Kelly Hancock’s steady hand as our state’s chief financial officer. Electric cooperative leaders enthusiastically support his campaign for Comptroller.”

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Rural Friends of Electric Cooperatives and the thousands of Texans they serve,” said Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock. “Electric cooperatives embody the values that make Texas strong — self-reliance, local leadership, and a commitment to serving our communities. As Comptroller, I’ll continue working to ensure state policies support affordable, reliable energy and a strong rural economy. I’m grateful for their trust and partnership in keeping Texas growing and powered for generations to come.”

Texas’ 76 electric cooperatives were founded 85 years ago and operate in 241 of the state’s 254 counties, serving over five million consumers. Rural Friends promotes the interest of electric cooperatives and our consumers through participation in the political process. Membership in the organization is voluntary and consists of cooperative managers, directors, employees and consumers.
