Hancock to Seek Senate District 10 Seat
Tarrant County State Representative Kelly Hancock today announced he will seek the Republican nomination for Texas State Senate District 10 in Tarrant County.
Hancock, elected to the Texas House in 2006, is Chairman of the Republican Caucus Policy Committee. Hancock is known for his conservative values and dedicated service to his constituents.
“Until our state and nation is pulled out of this recession, the issues of jobs, low taxes, and cutting debt will continue to be our highest priority,” said Hancock. “The people of our Senate District want and need a voice dedicated to those values. I will now begin to ask the voters of this district for the chance to represent those values for them.”
Hancock was named the "Legislator of the Year" Award by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association and the "Katie Sherrod Advocacy Award" for advocating for victims of domestic violence. Hancock was also named "Champion for Free Enterprise" by the Texas Association of Business and a "Taxpayer Hero" by the Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.
“My conservative record is in touch with the conservative values of this district,” said Hancock.
Hancock is known as a tough and effective campaigner. In 2006, he defeated a field of 5 competitors for the Republican nomination in House District 91 – several heavily funded. Hancock stunned Texas political observers by winning his seat without a runoff. Prior to his service in the Texas House, Hancock served 13 years on the Birdville ISD School Board.
Hancock is a graduate of Baylor University. He owns Advanced Chemical Logistics, his family-founded chemical distribution company. Kelly and his wife, Robin, have been married 24 years and have three children: Chloe, Skylar and Harrison. The Hancocks stay involved in the community through their participation in school, church and community events.
