Governor Rick Perry is endorsing Rep. Kelly Hancock for Texas Senate District 9. As the current Chairman of the Republican Caucus Policy Committee, Hancock played a key role in the most conservative session since reconstruction. Hancock is enthusiastically supporting Governor Perry’s “Texas Budget Compact,” which includes budget principles that Hancock has supported and worked to advance during his time in the Legislature. Regarding his endorsement, Governor Perry made the following statement:
“Kelly Hancock is a strong conservative leader, with a rock solid record of balancing budgets, limiting government, and helping spark Texas jobs and economic opportunity. I have always counted on Kelly Hancock to rally conservatives and get important things done in the Texas Legislature. Kelly Hancock has a well-earned reputation as a conservative consensus-builder and problem-solver and will be the energetic and capable conservative Senator North Texans Republicans deserve.”
“Governor Perry has been a great leader in the fight to keep taxes low and reduce government spending, allowing our state’s economy to be one of the strongest in the union. I am pleased to support the Governor’s Texas Budget Compact, which provides a clear outline of the steps we will take to in order to protect our state’s fiscal future. I am humbled to have Governor Perry’s endorsement and remain committed to advancing the conservative principles that make Texas great,” Rep. Hancock said.
Hancock continues to receive support from respected individuals and organizations throughout District 9 and the state, including, a number of SD 9 precinct chairs; Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott; State Representative Rodney Anderson; Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne; Southlake Mayor John Terrell; former Fort Worth Mayor Bob Bolen; Cathie Adams, former President, Texas Eagle Forum; Texas Alliance for Life; Texas Right to Life; Texans for Fiscal Responsibility; Young Conservatives of Texas; Texans for Lawsuit Reform; Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association; and Business and Commerce Political Action Committee, the political arm of the Texas Association of Business.
Senate District 9 includes all of Hancock’s current State House District. In addition, it includes Southlake, the Tarrant County portion of Westlake, Euless, and Keller along with sections of Hurst, Bedford, Arlington, Irving, and Grand Prairie.
